Master Procrastinator

It is pretty apparent to anyone who follows me on Goodreads, or reads my blog, that I have a pretty big girl-wood for paranormal romance. I can’t help it. Life is intense, and real, and the shit that happens in it cannot be blamed on anything other than the fact that people can be horrible creatures. No one is being fed a list of bad deeds from some primordial demon who escaped through a hell-pit near a California high school. No one is possessed by the spirit of Lady Bathory as they assign calculus homework to unsuspecting undergrads. No one is acting as a marionette for the whims of an ancient demigod who loves to play video games and hates humanity.

In real life people are just bad because that’s them. People are amazing, too, but that’s not what dominates the news. It becomes easier to be bogged down in the mire of the everyday, than to sets oneself alight on a happier path, astir with levity and hope. And, holy mother of crapballs does that get depressing as hell! Therefore, I turn to stories of alterity: chthonian romances, and epic heroines battling for the good of all humankind. I read chivalric romances on-purpose–for amusement–as strange as that sounds. (Marie of France kicks some serious literary ass!) And I love a sexy movie/teeeeveee show with a saucysexysumptuous hero, and a kickass lady hero who can rescue her damned self, but who also seems to like the “SSS” hero involved.

Lately, I’ve been watching more than usual. Here’s how it has been happening. So, say I just read a book about writing memoirs that makes my little blog feel like a complete shamalamadingdong, and I’m both inspired and feeling a bit down on myself. I could, A: boot up the Mac, and get crack-a-lackin on my own memoir. Or, I could, B: boot up the Mac, intending to get crack-a-lacking, and instead perusing for a few minutes on my Netflix suggestions, and proceed watch 5 episodes of this….

And then I could maybe, sorta, make a snack and finish the rest of the season. It happens. 

Alternatively, perhaps, I need to start blogging in a different venue. Perhaps this blog has about 94875349867^3 broken links, and it’s a hot mess. SO MUCH a hot mess, that your PSM sends you a selfie of her “WTF?!” facial reaction of seeing this blog. You happen to have a tasty beer handy, and the book you started isn’t interesting you, so you may start watching this…

 

I mean, I’ve already read the bookIt would be a disservice to Kelley Armstrong to NOT watch the show.  I am loyal to my authors. Like a puppy–or that STD you just can’t get rid of.

Salt and Vinegar Roasted Chickpeas

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Keywords: appetizer side snack dairy-free gluten-free kosher low-carb vegan

Ingredients (2 cups roasted chickpeas)

  • 1 15.5 oz can chickpeas, drained
  • 2 tbsp fruity balsamic vinegar or glaze
  • 2 tbsp evoo
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375F

combine all ingredients in a bowl and toss

pour onto a parchment lined cookie sheet

bake for ten minutes

shake sheet to toss

bake ten more minutes

let cool
